RALEIGH, N.C. — Davie County High School captured the 2026 NCHSAA 7A Dual Team Wrestling State Championship with a 40–30 victory over New Bern High School in the championship match.
Davie County advanced through the western bracket before meeting New Bern in the state final, where the War Eagles secured the title by winning key bouts late in the dual to clinch the team victory.
The championship marks Davie County’s fourth dual-team state title and its second in three seasons, continuing the program’s recent success at the state level.
The NCHSAA dual-team format determines a champion through head-to-head team matches across all weight classes, with each individual bout contributing points toward the overall team score.
Davie County defeated A.L. Brown in the regional final to advance to the state championship, while New Bern won the eastern regional to earn its place in the final dual.
The 2026 championships marked the first season of the NCHSAA’s expanded eight-classification wrestling format.
