2026 NCHSAA 8A Indoor Track & Field Championships


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Mallard Creek High School captured both the boys and girls team championships at the 2026 NCHSAA 8A Indoor Track & Field State Championships at JDL Fast Track.

The Mavericks completed a team sweep, with the boys repeating as state champions while the girls earned the program’s first 8A indoor team title. Mallard Creek’s boys totaled 55 points to finish ahead of runner-up Jordan High School, while the girls scored 81.5 points to secure the championship over Myers Park High School.

Mallard Creek won multiple individual events and relays across the meet, contributing to consistent scoring throughout both team competitions.

In the girls competition, Alessia Potts was named Most Valuable Performer after winning both the 1000-meter and 1600-meter races.

On the boys side, Alexander Chapman‑Evans earned Most Valuable Performer honors.
