2025 Great American XC Festival


CARY, N.C. — The 2025 Nike Great American Cross Country Festival opened Friday with the Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge, celebrating excellence and legacy in collegiate running before transitioning to elite high school competition on Saturday.

In the women’s HBCU 5K, Deavion Deleon of North Carolina A&T dominated the field, winning in 17:36.2. On the men’s side, Brian Kiprop of Fayetteville State took the 8K title in 24:31.4, leading his team to the men’s championship. Fayetteville State claimed the men’s team crown, while North Carolina Central University won the women’s team title.

Saturday’s Race of Champions delivered equally standout performances. Averi Lowen (Bowdon, GA) captured the girls’ championship in 16:27.2, the third-fastest time ever recorded on the WakeMed Soccer Park course.

On the boys’ side, Marcelo Mantecon of Belen Jesuit (FL) repeated as champion, clocking 14:39.0 to secure back-to-back Race of Champions titles.
